A couple of contractors out by me have used it on exterior cedar siding. Don't know how it faired. Although having never used it myself I'm guessing it's Iron (II) Sulfate aka copperas/green vitriol. You can get a 50# sack of iron sulfate from any farming supply outlet for under $20, aka moss control. The iron in it might react with uric acid from bird droppings similar to oxalic acid, undoing the effect. We use copperas purchased from Earth Guild for ebonizing and as a period correct coloring reagent for white oak on earlier restorations. Never used it on exteriors though.
